About Dan

Artist Daniel.C.Wilson

Where Dan Began

Dan was born in Melbourne in 1974 and, as a teenager, began weekly art classes at Arts Project Australia.

He moved to Toowoomba in Queensland in 1995 and was extremely fortunate to find Beth Hunter, a skilled art teacher, who became his mentor and friend. With her help he has explored many different techniques and themes and developed a wide variety of artistic skills and interpretations of his world.

Works of Art

Dan has had four solo exhibitions in public art galleries, several solo exhibitions at Pitt Stop Studio and contributed to other group exhibitions. He has been commissioned by individuals, support services, and businesses to produce art works for them.

He was invited to prepare art works to be included in the Toowoomba Grammar School Art Show and the Downlands Art Show.

The Fun of Sharing

Dan enjoys the fun and the creativity of painting and loves to share his work with others.

From his original art works he has produced several series of art cards, bookmarks and notebooks which he sells privately, on line, and through galleries and other businesses in Toowoomba.

He loves to share – see Dan’s new prints, art works and Pitt Stop Studio at News.

But wait, there's more!

As well as painting he participates in 10 pin bowling and line dancing, has a strong interest in following football, cricket and other sports and cooking shows.

Dan Goes Forth

‘Dan Goes Forth’ was an exhibition in which he produced 27 paintings that capture the experiences of his sisters, Jess and Jo, as they travelled around the world. They continually sent images of their travels through different countries back to Dan. With the help of his mentor Beth Hunter, Dan created beautiful and intriguing art works from these images, which became ‘Dan Goes Forth: Journeying with the Travelling Jays’, June 2018.

The exhibition attracted media attention. Watch the "Dan Goes Forth - Journeying with the Travelling Jays" video from The Chronicle website.
